WOMEN HEALTH AND MIDWIFERY

Nurse-midwives provides primary care to pregnant women in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, including hospitals, homes, and birth centre. They provide care with the concept that birth is a physiologic process, and that all physiologic processes, including health promotion and illness prevention, should be supported by a wellness focus. A registered nurse who has completed advanced education with a focus on the primary health care needs of women throughout their lives, with an emphasis on conditions unique to women from menarche to death, creates a caring environment and establishes a connection with a woman and her family to provide care to patient that reduces unnecessary interventions while providing the same tests, medications, and procedures as men, creates a caring environment and establishes a connection with a woman and her family to provide effective service that reduces unnecessary interventions.
